At VellaTimes, we pledge to publish accurate information across all channels. We ensure this accuracy through diligent fact-checking, skepticism towards claims, questioning assumptions, and challenging mainstream ideas.
We aim to achieve ‘due accuracy’ in our content. By ‘due’, we mean that the accuracy should be fitting and appropriate, considering the subject and nature of the content, while clearly addressing any constraints that may affect the final output.
Our content is well-sourced, evidence-based, and corroborated according to its context. We maintain honesty about uncertainties and avoid baseless speculation.
At VellaTimes, our authors commit to ethical practices. They never plagiarize or intentionally skew facts and context, including visuals.
We use independent verification to confirm claims, information, or allegations, particularly those made by public figures or entities that may have motives beyond pure truth reporting. Any content that can’t be corroborated is attributed accordingly.
We stand by our published information, considering it accurate until proven otherwise. In such cases, corrections are made promptly. We avoid any intentional distortion of facts or the presentation of invented material as facts to maintain our audience’s trust. Recognizing serious factual errors and rectifying them promptly and transparently is part of our practice.
We provide a publicly accessible ‘Suggest A Correction’ section at the end of every online story allowing readers to point out any inaccuracies or errors they may find.
Our authors focus primarily on writing, and fact-checking stories for articles. VellaTimes employs a multilevel fact-checking system managed by one or more editors for stories requiring stringent checks. Factors such as complexity, sensitivity, and time pressure determine the seniority of the reviewing editors.
Our Correction Policies
Despite striving for excellence and accuracy, we acknowledge potential errors. VellaTimes takes initiative in rectifying errors and maintains transparency to ensure corrected information doesn’t spread.
For Readers:
Upon spotting an error, please contact our Editor-in-Chief, Nisha Pradhan, immediately via email (nisha@vellatimes.com) with the subject line ‘Correction Needed’.
Corrections are officially acknowledged only when submitted directly to the Editor-in-Chief. If sent via email, please include the correction detail, issue date/number, correction location (article link), your name, and contact details. While a correction submission ensures an investigation, it doesn’t guarantee a correction.
For VellaTimes:
Any reported error will be thoroughly investigated by the Editor-in-Chief using available resources such as reader-provided information, meeting minutes, article resources, etc.
Discovering an error triggers a correction process across all platforms where the incorrect information was disseminated. The article will be amended, and an editor’s note detailing the correction and the time of update will be added at the meta entry of the article.
Once the correction is made, the Editor-in-Chief will reach out to the reader who reported the error, explaining the steps undertaken during the rectification process.
