The buzz around Samsung’s upcoming flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 is heating up. Rumors are circulating about when it’ll launch, what models will be available, and what kind of new features and upgrades we can expect.
According to leaks by tipster Evan Blass, Samsung plans to host its big annual Unpacked event on 18 January to unveil the new S24 lineup. Blass also shared leaked specs of the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra models showing they’ll have the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, Android 14, and more.
Let’s take a closer look at what we might see with the regular Samsung Galaxy S24 in particular.
The Galaxy S24 could bring some nice improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy S23. The S24’s screen might get bumped up to a larger 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an extra bright 2600 nit brightness which is way brighter than the S23’s 6.1-inch screen.
For the camera, rumors point to a powerful new 50 MP primary camera capable of 8K video, plus a long-awaited 30X Space Zoom. The triple camera system may also add a dual telephoto lens with both 2X and 3X optical zoom options.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to run Android 14 out of the box and use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, though some regions might get Samsung’s Exynos 2400 instead. Notably, leaks suggest the base S24 will get a battery boost to 4000 mAh in comparing to the 3900 mAh of the previous S23 model.
Like the S23 lineup, fast charging should be on board with rumors of hitting a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Other expected features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP68 water resistance, Dolby Atmos speakers, and more.
One of the biggest additions rumored for the whole S24 lineup is a major upgrade to AI and machine learning capabilities, possibly using Google’s new Bard technology. A teaser hints at big AI improvements coming to “Galaxy AI.”
Pricing for the S24 family will likely stay similar to the S23 series. Samsung wants to keep prices stable but improve features. Their goal is a 10% sales jump to 33 million units. To maintain costs, some regions will get Exynos chips in the base and Plus models, with Snapdragon reserved for the S24 Ultra globally.
No matter the processor, all S24 models reportedly will share a new emergency response feature meeting 3GPP standards. But it’s unclear if it’ll be available worldwide at launch.
